| Amazon Kindle e-Reader |

I don’t read as much as I would like to. That’s the sad truth. Could the Amazon Kindle e-Reader change that? Somehow I don’t think so. With that being said, I like where they are going with this. It is a lightweight device that allows you to download books and blogs from anywhere a cell phone would work. Their demonstration videos make it seem pretty cool. The downside is that the device costs $400 right off the top. That’s a tough sell for me. Sure it might pay off in the long run if you buy a lot of books (sinde the books delivered to the reader are at a discounted price) but it’s a tough gamble for me to drop that much money up front. One final question I have about this is what the expected environmental impact would be. I know that mass procucing books that never get read is tough for our forests, but what about mass producing these hunks of technology that will probably be obsolete in a few years? Don’t get me wrong, I love gadgets and I’m not getting on a high horse here, I would just be curious to see the numbers. =) |
